If you want to perfect your weaving in of tails/ends, gain the confidence to finish a sweater that’s knit in pieces and seamed, or seam 100 squares together for that beautiful blanket but don’t know where to begin, this is the perfect two-session workshop for you!
Led by Vincent Williams of Visuvio's Crafts, students will learn the tools, techniques, and mechanics of weaving in ends + seaming flat panels of knitted fabric, including reading your knitting, identifying selvedge stitches, how to pair bind off and cast on edges together, how to pair sides of rows together, learn different seaming techniques, learn different methods to weave in your ends, and when to (or when you actually don’t need to) employ these techniques.
Purchase before the start of class:
- At least 105 yards of worsted weight yarn to create the four squares/rectangles, contrast color worsted weight yarn for seaming these squares/rectangles together
- US 8/5mm 24” circular needle
- US H/5mm crochet hook
- locking (or split ring) stitch markers
- tapestry needle
Homework to complete before the start of class:
Knit and block all four swatches from the Seaming Essentials Pattern Pack (use code ZIPPED101 to enter the pattern page) before the start of class.
Because this is a skills course, we do not require materials to be bought at The Craftivist. Feel free to use yarn from your stash. But if you need materials, we've got you covered! Students receive 10% off the cost of supplies for the class.
