small amounts of any weight of yarn; smoother or less hairy yarns work best if you plan to stiffen with starch or glue

Needles
for lace weight - try 3.25mm
for sock weight - try 3.75mm
for DK weight - try 4.0mm
for worsted / aran weight - try 5 to 5.5mm
